Summary: Resilience is the goal of many clients who desire to thrive amid the circumstances and challenges that keep them stuck; however, psychologists, licensed mental health and medical professionals, and ministry leaders do not often think about their own resilience. The pandemic showed two vulner abilities in the human services industry—mental health and medical professionals are susceptible to burnout and are essential for the world to continue operating at any level. This presentation will introduce and demonstrate various simple, unsuspecting, innate, invisible, and powerful tools, of which, from a Christian perspective, God has equipped every human to help people be healthy and stay resilient. In this workshop, the presenter will teach whole-person tools that are highly effective in jumpstarting hope and resilience when utilized appropriately, triggering the release of healing hormones and neurotransmitters, and promoting physical, emotional, mental, relational, and spiritual health. This presentation is designed to help human service professionals and ministry leaders stay resilient and effective in their current roles. 1. Describe the foundational rationale for the application of these innate tools as related to research surrounding the release of hormones and neurotransmitters, as well as the physical and emotional implications of their use 2. List and apply the use of numerous unsuspecting, God given tools for facilitating grounding and resilience as they support themselves through challenging stressors, traumas, and seasons of life 3. Apply experiential techniques that assist the professional in achieving a reduction of distress, increased hope, moti vation for change, and whole-person resilience Learning Objectives Participants will:
Summary: This workshop reviews the 2023 AACC Code of Ethics update and addresses key ethical issues, challenges, and trends for psychologists, other licensed mental health professionals, and pastoral and lay caregivers. The ethical competence of Christian mental health professionals’ ethical decision-making process will be highlighted, with a focus on advocacy. Advocacy is a multi-faceted ethical responsibility toward clients, the profession of Christian counseling, and society at large. This session identifies challenges in implementing the 2023 AACC Code of Ethics and provides direction for competent, ethical application in advocacy. Participants will be presented with practical ways to advocate for Christian counseling. 1. Evaluate the applicability of the 2023 AACC Code of Ethics to current developments and issues for psycholo gists, other licensed mental health practitioners, students, pastoral counselors, and coaches 2. Analyze various models and applications of ethical competence and apply ethical competence to the area of advocacy 3. Identify and apply ethical Christian counseling practices to help attendees competently navigate challenges and issues in current mental health practice, law, and public policy 4. Analyze situations that may lead to ethical, legal, and regulatory complications so licensed professionals and other Christian caregivers can seek additional advice on how to best proceed Learning Objectives Participants will:
