PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOPS including specifically cognitive-behavioral approaches (see Pearce, 2016; Rosmarin, 2018; Tirch, Silberstein, & Kolts, 2016), this workshop will focus on Christian ap proaches to cognitive-behavioral therapy or CBT (Tan, 2013, 2022b) and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or ACT (Knabb, 2023) as a mindfulness and acceptance based CBT (see also Knabb, 2021; Rosales & Tan, 2016; Tan, 2022b; Trammel & Trent, 2021; Thompson, 2020). Role-plays will be used to demonstrate some Christian interventions in faith-based CBT and ACT as examples of anchoring our mental healthcare in Christ. 1. Examine recent advances in faith in therapy and the wide variety of religious and spiritual therapies available today 2. Describe the substantial empirical evidence support ing the effectiveness of religious and spiritual therapies, including Christian therapies 3. Develop specific Christian interventions in faith-based CBT and ACT that can be used with Christian clients Learning Objectives Participants will:

Summary: This pre-conference workshop will briefly review some recent advances on faith in therapy in general (Richards, Allen, & Judd, 2023; Sandage & Strawn, 2022), and more specially in Christian therapy, that are imperative for psy chologists, licensed mental health professionals, ministry leaders, and coaches to know (Appleby & Ohlschlager, 2022; Knabb, Johnson, Bates, & Sisemore, 2019; Sutton, 2021; Tan, 2022a, 2022b; Worthington, Johnson, Hook, & Aten, 2013). There is now substantial empirical evidence supporting the effectiveness of religious and spiritual therapies, including Christian therapies (Captari et al., 2018; Marques et al., 2022). There is also effective online training for mental health professionals in religious and spiritual competencies in mental healthcare ( Pearce et al., 2019, 2020). While there are many religious and spiritual interventions available today that reflect faith in therapy,
