However, the brain can be trained to resist anxiety and manage stress. Using nonpharmacological approaches, psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, medi cal professionals, ministry leaders, and coaches will discuss how the autonomic nervous system activates the fight/ flight and freeze responses to stress in concert with the limbic system, resulting in increased stress and anxiety. This workshop will provide interventions related to this process, specifically targeting anxiety pathways in the brain. Through evidence-based bottom-up and top-down brain interventions, participants will be able to identify practical treatment strategies for clients. 1. Discuss a brief overview of the body’s autonomic nervous system and limbic system’s response to stress as a basis for intervention 2. Explain how the parasympathetic nervous system works to calm anxiety using polyvagal theory, the power of con nection, and somatic techniques 3. Summary: Sexual compulsivity, including pornography usage and infidelity, continues to bring devastation to individuals, couples, and families. The statistics are tragically high regarding the impact of the trauma of all types of sexual betrayal. The amount of pornography viewing, with a significant increase during the COVID-19 pandemic, has brought about a virtual “porndemic.” The field of partner trauma continues to inform licensed mental health profes sionals, ministry leaders, and coaches about the impact of discovery and disclosure of sexual infidelity, including the “PTSD” effect on partners of those involved in sexual compulsivity. In this crisis, there is significant help and hope for the recovery of individuals and couples. This pre conference workshop will provide up-to-date statistical evidence of the problem with proven, practical, clinical in formation that will inform a treatment plan of recovery for individuals, betrayed partners, and romantic relationships. 1. Describe the foundations, etiology, and assessment of Compulsive Sexual Behavior Disorder and infidelity 2. Examine the impact of attachment, family of origin trauma, and neurochemistry on the development of an intimacy disorder and compulsive sexual behavior disorder 3. Analyze how the trauma of Compulsive Sexual Behavior or infidelity can impact each partner in a romantic rela tionship 4.
