Summary: Building on the foundational knowledge of ABIS-I, this intensive focuses on applying attachment-based, spiritually integrated therapy to several significant clinical concerns. The two main areas of focus will be working with couples in distress using Emotion-Focused Therapy and individual adults with various kinds of emotional disorders such as depression, panic disorder, OCD, and trauma related disorders using the SECURE treatment model. Important assessment and case formulation methods are developed to help guide psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, and other mental health caregivers through the clinical decision-making process. Specific attention is given to understanding ways attachment strategies influence how clients relate to God when under stress and interventions designed to help clients access key spiritual resources that will help promote and accelerate therapeutic change in both individual and couples therapy. 1. Outline each of the six SECURE principles and how psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, and other mental health caregivers use them to provide an attachment-based, spiritually integrated transtheoretical therapy for various clinical concerns 2. Outline the basic tenants of EFT for couples in distress 3. Identify and apply attachment principles to assessing and treating distressed couples 4. Assess attachment-based difficulties within a marriage 5. Develop skills for helping couples uncover and express their core attachment needs underlying their distress and how to connect more deeply and intimately 6.
