Summary: Young millennials, Gen Z, and Generation Alpha are in the trenches of a battle unlike anything ever encountered. Since the nineties, these age-groups have faced an unprec edented surge in severe mental illnesses, suicide, substance abuse, pornography, intensity-based sex, anorexia, and obesity. Even with the best efforts and good intentions of countless psychologists, licensed mental health profession als, and Christian leaders, the responses to these crises by the mental health field and the church have been inef fective in the population in general. It is sensible, perhaps enlightening, to consider the following factors that were happening during this same time period: almost total adherence to the biomedical paradigm and the expansion of the DSM; the increase in SSRI antidepressants and other psychotropic medications in children and adolescents; the explosion of the smartphone and social media; the discon tinuation of church attendance by forty million Americans; and the permanent abandonment of Christianity by fifty
