Summary Life is a gift from God, and the story God has given each person through their own trials, triumphs, and experiences is vital to the legacy that a person leaves to his or her family. This story describes the plans that God intended, the lessons learned, and the overall beauty of struggle and resilience in an individual’s life. Legacy stories need to be passed down to children and grandchildren as a method of teaching the next generations about God and life so that the next generation can do the same for their children and grandchildren. Ministry leaders have the unique ability to help people look back over their life and develop these legacy stories into a cohesive narrative that can then be passed down to other generations. In this workshop, participants will learn how to help clients understand their own life, how to intentionally write a legacy story, and how to best share it with their family members. 1. Identify the importance on how one’s legacy is an intentional act of giving it the attention it deserves, one meant to assist pastor, life coach, and/or peer professional helper understands why their legacy story matters. 2. Review the average life expectancy study and its implication on story and legacy. 3. Discuss essential ways clients can build their legacy by using daily, monthly, and annual examples that place the importance on things that truly matter. Learning Objectives Participants will…

Summary: Ministry can be hazardous. Licensed mental health professionals and ministry leaders need to be equipped to address the risk factors facing Christian leaders in the Church. These professionals and paraprofessionals need to know what is unique to this population and how to address the issues that arise. This workshop will focus on the top six significant issues ministry professionals face, as found in the presenter’s doctoral research. Attendees will discover the causation of these issues and explore counseling techniques that address the heart of the matter. 1. Assess those in professional ministry for the six most significant issues with which those in ministry struggle, which will contribute to developing an accurate plan of care 2. Describe the context of pastors and their susceptibility to specific problems, which will help participants develop an appropriate treatment plan for Christian leaders 3. Apply experiential techniques applicable to struggling ministry leaders that can be incorporated into an overall model of intervention for those in ministry Learning Objectives Participants will:

RELIGIOUS LIBERTY SYMPOSIUM Christian counseling is in a very threatening, challenging and sobering season and battle. Faith-based mental health professionals and institutions are regularly faced with religious discrimination and cancellation in our highly conflicted and divided culture. This sympo sium will bring together key participants in the fight for religious freedom in our country. Licensed mental health providers will share their personal testimonies of fighting against censorship laws and counseling bans, religious freedom advocates will present legal updates in the field, and special guest speaker William J. Federer will be speaking on his new book Silence Equals Consent: The Sin of Omission. Important ethical and advocacy issues will be ad dressed as well as enlisting support in key action steps to fight and help save our profession.
