The statistics are tragically high regarding the impact of the trauma of all types of sexual betrayal. The amount of pornography viewing, with a significant increase during the COVID-19 pandemic, has brought about a virtual “porndemic.” The field of Partner Trauma continues to in form licensed mental health professionals, ministry leaders, and coaches about the impact of discovery and disclosure of sexual infidelity, including the “PTSD” effect on partners of those involved in sexual compulsivity. In this crisis, there is significant help and hope for the recovery of individuals and couples. This workshop will provide up-to-date statisti cal evidence of the problem with proven, practical, clinical information that will inform a treatment plan of recovery for individuals, betrayed partners, and romantic relationships. Learning Objectives 1. Identify the core concepts, causes, and assessment techniques for CSBD and infidelity, enabling them to better diagnose and understand these issues in clinical and therapeutic settings. 2. Examine how attachment patterns, family trauma, and neurochemical imbalances contribute to the development of intimacy disorders and sexual compulsivity and how these factors can be addressed in treatment. 3. Apply knowledge of proven interventions and therapeu tic strategies for helping couples heal and recover from the trauma caused by sexual compulsivity and infidelity. 506. Summary A primarily behavioral approach to sexuality is often dissat isfying for both professionals and clients; while behaviors have real consequences, behavior modification does not lead to lasting change. The cultural lie that a satisfying sex life is essential for a fulfilling life has often been baptized by the Church, leading to the belief that marriage is the solution. In this workshop, licensed mental health professionals, ministry leaders, and coaches will explore how sexuality and the need for intimacy are related but distinct, helping individuals ad dress sexual issues through the lens of intimacy. Participants will discuss neuroscientific and theological perspectives; this approach focuses on the Judeo-Christian worldview of the original, God-given need for intimacy, understanding how “intimacy gone wrong” has shaped experiences. Additionally, participants will assess how to help willing Christian clients regain the capacity for intimacy, regardless of relationship status or sexual activity, leading to lasting change. Examine from a Judeo-Christian worldview how sexuality and the God-given need for intimacy are related but distinct and how addressing sexual issues through the lens of inti macy leads to more lasting change. 2. Discuss how to combine neuroscientific principles with theological insights to help willing Christian clients address sexual issues effectively, fostering deep, meaningful connec tions and healing. 3. Assess practical approaches to helping clients regain their capacity for intimacy, regardless of relationship status or sexual activity, empowering them to experience healing and lasting transformation. 507. Empowered to Love: Creating a Marriage Both Love 1.25 credit hours Continuing Education Accreditations applicable to this workshop: ASWB, NBCC, IBCC, Florida Board of Clinical Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, and Mental Health Counseling Level: Intermediate Robert Paul, M.S., LPC Focus on the Family Summary Great, Christ-centered marriages do not happen by chance— intentional effort and growth are important factors. Since a marriage can only be as strong as the individuals within it, neglecting the personal development of each partner under mines the relationship. Licensed mental health profession als and ministry leaders will analyze a model that empowers married individuals to become whole, healthy, and aligned with a purpose, setting those clients on a path toward build ing a fulfilling and thriving marriage. Participants will assess how to help Christian clients integrate faith-based scriptural principles for personal health and wholeness while balanc ing individual growth with relationship needs.
