Summary Marriage can be a complex and demanding relationship; however, sustaining a marriage while raising a child with special needs introduces additional layers of difficulty. Re search indicates that the divorce rate among couples with a special needs child may be as high as 70-80%. As the preva lence of special needs diagnoses continues to rise, families face unique challenges. This workshop will provide a com prehensive understanding of the special needs marriage, of fering an innovative approach to its key components. Special attention will be given to three critical perspectives: 1) The Long View: Navigating marital dynamics in the later stages of life; 2) The Short View: Managing the urgent and overwhelm ing demands of day-to-day life; and 3) The Attachment View: Examining how the attachment framework differentiates special needs marriages from typical marriages. The goal is to equip therapists, counselors, and pastoral counselors with practical tools to support special needs families effectively, drawing from a holistic and systemic therapeutic approach. Learning Objectives 1. Recognize and define the unique characteristics of a spe cial needs marriage. 2. Identify the three key domains within a special needs mar riage and assess their impact on the relationship. 3. Apply practical therapeutic strategies to effectively support and treat special needs families. 708. Summary This workshop is designed for psychologists and licensed mental health professionals who wish to integrate somatic, experiential, and emotion-focused approaches in sex ther apy. Participants will explore the intersection of Neurosci ence Informed Christian Counseling® (NICC) with cutting edge therapeutic models like AEDP, IFS, EFT, AF-EMDR, and Memory Reconsolidation. Additionally, participants will ap ply polyvagal theory principles in the context of sex therapy while helping clients regulate the nervous system states to foster improved emotional and relational connection. The session will cover somatically-based interventions from these models, focusing on how they can be used to treat sexual dys function and intimacy-related issues, and participants will develop practical strategies for implementing these interven tions with clients. Finally, this workshop will conclude with a video demonstration of an actual client session (with client permission) to illustrate these approaches in action. Learning Objectives 1.
