Summary Traumatic events can come in many different ways, and the impact of trauma can vary depending on its nature, tim ing, and the individual’s circumstances. This workshop will explore the distinctions between Post-Traumatic Stress Dis order (PTSD) and Complex PTSD (C-PTSD). PTSD often results from a single incident trauma, such as natural disas ters or combat, while C-PTSD stems from chronic, relational trauma, usually originating in childhood. The session will highlight key differences between these two forms of trauma, including severity of symptoms, attachment styles, relation al capacity, use of dissociation, emotional regulation, and identity development challenges. Understanding these dif ferences will enable psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, and medical professionals to diagnose and treat PTSD and C-PTS more accurately. The workshop will present specific, evidence-based treatment models for both PTSD and C-PTSD, equipping clinicians with tools for effec tive intervention and healing. Learning Objectives 1. Compare and contrast the etiology and symptoms of PTSD and Complex PTSD 2. Identify the differing effects of specific types of trauma on victims 3. This workshop will bring clear information to psychologists, licensed mental health professionals, coaches, and ministry leaders regard ing the definition, symptoms, types, and other valuable intri cacy of narcissism. The presenter will discuss the complexi ties of narcissism and how it is best considered as being on a spectrum, which is often overlooked. Summary This pre-conference session reviews some of the key ethical and legal challenges facing faith-based mental profession als, including psychologists, other licensed mental health professionals, as well as pastoral counselors and coaches. Faith-based mental health professionals have faced in creased challenges to provide caregiving consistent with and originating from their sincerely held beliefs and values. Many have experienced increased resistance, skepticism, and even hostility toward their free expression in areas such as educa tion, training, practice, and continuing education. This ses sion reviews foundational worldview changes in ethics codes and legal and legislative developments that have impacted religious freedom in the mental health professions. Despite the significant challenges, the session concludes with rea sons for hope and means of purposeful involvement by faith based mental health professionals. Learning Objectives 1. Compare and contrast aspirational principles of primary codes of ethics in the mental health professions 2. Evaluate the importance of ethical and legal developments that affect the religious freedom of faith-based mental health professionals 3.
