Psychologists and mental health coaches will explore the latest trends in prevalence, diagnosis, and treatment while gaining insight into the so cial, psychological, and biological factors that contribute to these conditions. Common myths and misconceptions about eating disorders—such as who is affected and what recovery truly involves—will be addressed, with a focus on challeng ing harmful stereotypes. Evidence-based psychological ther apies and effective intervention strategies will be discussed, emphasizing the importance of a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. The session will also provide practical tools for licensed mental health professionals working with individu als impacted by eating disorders, aiming to foster more com passionate and effective care. Included in the session will be a discussion of the increased media attention on weight loss medication, how they are viewed by eating disorder patients, the need for medical professionals to ask about eating dis orders before the prescribing of these medications, and also the potential need for referrals related to eating disorders and weight loss medications. Ultimately, participants will be equipped with the knowledge and resources to debunk myths, support individuals in their recovery, and advance treatment practices in the field of disordered eating.
