INNOVATIVE THOUGHT & PRACTICE
John Trent, Ph.D., and his eldest daughter, Kari Stageberg, M.B.A., lead StrongFamilies.com. Together, they wrote the book, Your Journey from Broken to Blessed (Focus on the Family/Tyndale Publishers, 2025). If you are a “Blessing” champion, meaning you have read and used the concepts shared in The Blessing with those whom you work, coach, or counsel, we would love to hear from you. Contact us at jtrent@strongfamilies.com and Kstageberg@strongfamilies.com. We would love to set up a time to hear about how you are using The Blessing with others and explore how we can assist you in helping people move from broken to blessed in Christ.
blessed ourselves. We are no longer desperate in our need to be blessed by someone in our past. Nor are we forever trying to get someone to make up for a lost blessing in the present—we are finally home. As C.S. Lewis pictures it in his book, The Weight of Glory , “The door on which we have been knocking all our lives will open at last.” 1 What comes next for us as we coach and counsel peo ple is helping them start taking seven small steps toward giving and living the Blessing. Steps that include gaining a clearer picture of what a loving father really looks like, of the challenge to end the war that many have been fighting much of their lives, of finding willing arms and relation ships to keep moving forward, and encouragement to focus and have perspective on those “heavenly places” where God has placed them. And while we will not be perfect in blessing others, we can pray and begin to be watchful for the whole world of broken, needy people we will be encountering. For the rest of our lives, we will meet people who rely on us to do our jobs—to take our bless ing, and God’s blessing, and give it to that vast world of brokenness out there. We would love to join with you in helping people understand that, regardless of their past, in Christ, they can truly make the journey from broken to blessed . ;
